The first find of natural vanadate of REE in Russia. E.V. PEREVOZNIKOVA, V.T. KAZACHENKO (Far East Geological Institute, FEB RAS, Vladivostok).
Wakefieldite-(Ce), monazite-(Ce), xenotime-(Y), rhabdophane-(Ce), rhabdophane-(Y), tengerite-(Y) and bastnesite-(Ce) were found in jaspers (contact-metamorphosed metalliferous sediments) of the Triassic chert formation of Sikhote-Alin. Wakefieldite-(Ce), as well as goethite, limonite, vernadite, romaneshite, barytocelestine, celestine, pyromorphite, anglesite, plumbohummite-ginsdalite, etc., fills the cavities of endogenous leaching. It was formed as a result of the re-deposition in the voids of V and REE, which released during the exogenous decomposition of early V-containing minerals and the replacement of endogenous monazite of rhabdophane and bastnesite.
