Abstract

The Japanese marginal sea is a seismically active vortex structure that has developed mainly in the Miocene– Pliocene. The Neogene-Quaternary alkali-basalt formation, developed there, promising to non-traditional indigenous manifestations of diamonds, similar to the diamondiferous lamproites of Western Australia. As a result of rising of rotating magma diaper, alkaline basalts could transport mantle diamond inclusions. In connection with vent facies of the Neogene alkali-basalt formation in the Sea of Japan in the Precambrian blocks the discovery of diamondiferous placers is projected.
