Abstract

Main economically valuable traits of timothy grass in the collection nursery. О.М. SKALOZUB, N.L. KLOCHKOVA (Federal Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnology in the Far East named after A.K. Chaika, Ussuriysk, Timiryazevsky village).

The insufficient assortment of cultivated varieties of perennial cereal grasses does not fully meet the modern requirements of agricultural production in terms of forage mass and seeds productivity, as well as their adaptive properties. One of the ways to create intensive varieties can be zonal selection, which makes it possible to more fully use the bioclimatic potential of the region. The article presents the results of studies of cultivars of timothy grass in a collection nursery held in 2018–2020. Biological, economically valuable traits and properties of timothy grass varieties were studied in the fields of breeding crop rotation of the Fodder Production Department of the A.K. Chaika Federal Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnology in the Far East and the most outstanding ones were selected for the creation of new intensive varieties.
