Abstract

Origin of genetics in the Institute of Marine Biology FEB RAS and at the Far East of Russia. Yu.Ph. KARTAVTSEV (A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, FEB RAS, Vladivostok).

This essay contains information on the origin and development of genetics as a science branch in A.V. Zhirmunsky Institute of Marine Biology and later in the National Scientific Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS. The information is given about genetic schools and specifically the genetic school of Yu P. Altukhov, his followers in the institute’s life, as well as involvement of other academic institutions and the Far East Federal University (earlier – the Far East State University).
