Sulphate-reducing bacteria from different habitats of the Amur River. D.V. ANDREEVA (Institute of Water and
Ecological Problems, FEB RAS, Khabarovsk).
The article discusses the results of microbiological studies of the quantity of sulphate-reducing bacteria from water,
bottom sediments and ice of the Amur River. Particular attention is paid to the cross-border section where the Amur
River quality is affected by the Songhua River flow from the People’s Republic of China. The article shows that the high
quantity and activity of sulphate-reducing bacteria from different components of the Amur River ecosystem is determined by the influence of a complex of environmental factors: habitat conditions, hydrological regime, composition of organic substances carried with the large tributaries flow (Zeya, Bureya, Sungari, Ussuri Rivers).
