One of the major problems, associated with potato production in the Magadan Region is the lack of high-yielding varieties who meet the requirements of modern potato farming. For planting a seed material of a variety of high quality reproductions is used, which is imported from central regions of the country and practically not adapted to local growing conditions and bacterial, fungal and viral diseases widespread in the region. As a result the yield of potato reduced, reduced and total yield of marketable tubers. Highly productive, ecologically plastic varieties of the new generation are required. As a result of long-term joint research on the selection of potatoes of the Magadan Research Institute of Agricultural and the A.G. Lorh FSBSI VNIIKH a promising potato variety Arctica was received.
