The article considers methods for modifying aluminosilicate materials in order to obtain oil sorbents. The results of studying the sorption properties of thermochemically modified granular foam silicate obtained from mica shale ore waste are presented. A comparative analysis of water absorption and oil absorption of modified and untreated samples was carried out. The features are established and the nature of the kinetic curves is substantiated. The possibility of using a modified foam silicate as a sorbent for oil products is shown.
