90th anniversary of the Central Scientific Library of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Central Scientific Library (CSL) of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, founded in March 1932 among the very first academic institutions in the region. It is reported about the first directors A.V. Marakuev and Z.N. Matveev, who laid down the basic principles of the library’s information service for researchers and began publishing scientific bibliographies. Data are given on the acquisition of library funds in different years, numerous reorganizations that hampered the work of the li- brary. The work of employees in the preservation of library funds and acquisition of collections of Far Eastern literature is described, the role of library leaders is emphasized (M.N. Panichkina, E.Ya. Egorova, N.A. Kanover, E.M. Politovskaya, M.M. Sopova, T. N. Mikhailyuk, A.A. Nabiullin and T.A. Khmel) in defending her interests. The history of the Central Scientific Library as one of the structural subdivisions of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences reflects the development process of the Far Eastern academic science, and its collections can be used to trace the scientific interests of employees of academic institutions.
