Abstract

We analyzed 10 spring (1999–2007, 2014) and 19 autumn (1998–2016) seasons of migration of the Siberian rubythroat in the Southern Primorye. We identified main characteristics of migration – average start and end dates, medians, peaks of activity and total duration. We determined differences in migration strategies of different sex and age groups. We found that the overall progress of the migration of adult birds takes place in a shorter and earlier period. Juvenile birds predominated over adults (averaged data ratio was about 6 : 1). The annual differences in the proportion of adult birds are highly significant. The ratio of the sexes of the Siberian rubythroat in the migrating population in the South Primorye is stable and roughly distributed 1 : 1 with an insignificant predominance of males.
